Vacation Apartment
Constructing a relaxing living area was the primary concern for this vacation get-away. The owners were not available to discuss important decisions and everything from demolition to furnishings was determined by the designer. The only criteria were to provide a large screen television, a wine reserve and to keep the furnishing budget to minimum. Every aspect of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, hardware and millwork was modernized and replaced. Only the wide pine wood floors and wood windows were salvageable from the original structure. Instead of removing signs of the historic character, large crown molding, stained glass windows and plaster finished walls juxtapose clean modern finishes. The vision behind this design was to create the spirit of a vacation home with the energy of a city apartment.
